On the Ground, and from Above
Drawing inspiration from the landscapes local to the Grange University Hospital, artist and illustrator Laura Hallett has created artworks that draw inspiration from the ground beneath our feet and the skies above us.
On Level 1, illustrations focus on the Gwent Levels’ rich array of flora and fauna and the animals that thrive in these special environments. On Level 4, the works take the viewpoint of local birds travelling over rolling hills, and draw our attention to the industrial heritage. On the Ground, and From Above takes us through day and night on a journey that can be followed down the hospital corridors.
Wedi'i hysbrydoli gan y tirweddau sy'n lleol i Ysbyty Athrofaol y Faenor, mae'r artist a'r darlunydd Laura Hallett wedi creu gweithiau celf sydd wedi'u hysbrydoli gan y ddaear o dan ein traed a'r awyr uwch ein pennau.
Ar Lefel 1, mae'r darluniau'n canolbwyntio ar amrywiaeth gyfoethog o fflora a ffawna ar Wastadeddau Gwent a'r anifeiliaid sy'n ffynnu yn yr amgylcheddau arbennig hyn. Ar Lefel 4, mae'r gwaith yn edrych ar y byd o safbwynt adar lleol yn teithio dros bant a bryn, ac yn tynnu ein sylw at y dreftadaeth ddiwydiannol. Mae On the Ground, and From Above yn mynd â ni drwy'r dydd a'r nos ar daith y gellir ei dilyn i lawr coridorau'r ysbyty.

Laura Hallett is a freelance artist and illustrator based in Bristol. She works mainly in watercolour and ink, and specialises in illustrated maps, travel and lifestyle illustrations. She is inspired by capturing unique places and the features that make them special, with a focus on landscapes and architecture as well as celebrating cultural identity.
