Children’s Nature Garden
Working closely with the health board’s play specialists, artist Emma M Price has created interactive, accessible artworks that ensure the children’s nature garden functions as a fun, educational space where children and young people can learn and play in a welcoming, safe space. Educational boards encourage children to explore the garden and to learn about local plants and animals, while bespoke labels draw the eye to the beautiful planting. Emma also curated nature garden boxes for the children’s department that provide hospital staff with meaningful activities to engage children. Emma’s artworks help ensure a legacy of engagement for the children’s nature garden extending beyond the arts programme.

Emma M Price makes work that responds to place. She has a background in art and design and maintains an arts practice co-producing public artworks with communities to design site-specific installations, from artist-led playgrounds and designing back-in-nature spaces to functional artworks within the public realm. Her work stimulates thinking around social-ecological engagement with communities through the shared belief in the benefits of public art and nature. She considers the way that the wider public can interact with art and ecology in our urban and rural built environment.
