Photography, ABUHB Clinical Photographers

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) Clinical Photographers have created a series of photographs with the brief of improving wellbeing at the Grange. This gave them an opportunity to use their skills beyond the day-to-day medical remit of their work.

The project encouraged the team to move beyond their professional practice and create site-specific artworks for spaces around the hospital including quiet rooms, relatives’ rooms, cardiology, the junior doctors’ mess and the medical education centre. The images feature Llancayo Windmill, East Usk Lighthouse, Newport Transporter Bridge, Talybont Waterfall and many other local scenes and sights.

It was great to have the opportunity to provide artwork for the Grange University Hospital. It is very different to the type of photography I take within the clinical setting and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring my local area. I hope that my images will evoke peace and tranquillity.’ - Sophie Jenkins, Clinical Photographer

“The Grange University Arts Programme gave us an excellent opportunity to collaborate with university partners and to support the early career development of future NHS staff in a creative and innovative way.  It was equally important to the Health Board that our own clinical photographers participated in the project and were able to use their skills to contribute to the Grange University Hospital in a very different way than their ‘day job’ allows”. -  Peter Carr, Chair of Arts Strategy Group and Executive Director of Therapies and Health Science

Mae Ffotograffwyr Clinigol Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Aneurin Bevan (BIPAB) wedi creu cyfres o ffotograffau gyda'r brîff o wella llesiant yn y Grange. Rhoddodd hyn gyfle iddynt ddefnyddio eu sgiliau y tu hwnt i'w gwaith meddygol o ddydd i ddydd.

Roedd y prosiect yn annog y tîm i symud y tu hwnt i'w hymarfer proffesiynol a chreu gweithiau celf safle-benodol ar gyfer lleoedd o amgylch yr ysbyty gan gynnwys ystafelloedd tawel, ystafelloedd perthnasau, yr adran gardioleg, ystafell fwyta'r meddygon iau a'r ganolfan addysg feddygol. Mae'r delweddau'n cynnwys Melin Wynt Llancaio, Goleudy Dwyrain Brynbuga, Pont Gludo Casnewydd, Rhaeadr Tal-y-bont a llawer o olygfeydd lleol eraill.

'Roedd yn wych cael y cyfle i ddarparu gwaith celf ar gyfer Ysbyty Athrofaol y Faenor. Mae'n wahanol iawn i'r math o waith ffotograffiaeth rwy'n ei wneud yn y lleoliad clinigol ac fe wnes i fwynhau'n fawr cael y cyfle i ymchwilio i'r ardal leol. Gobeithio y bydd fy nelweddau yn ennyn heddwch a llonyddwch.' - Sophie Jenkins, Ffotograffydd Clinigol

“Rhoddodd Rhaglen Gelfyddydau Ysbyty Athrofaol y Faenor gyfle gwych i ni gydweithio â phartneriaid yn y brifysgol a chefnogi datblygiad gyrfa gynnar darpar staff y GIG mewn ffordd greadigol ac arloesol. Roedd yr un mor bwysig i’r Bwrdd Iechyd bod ein ffotograffwyr clinigol ni ein hunain yn cymryd rhan yn y prosiect ac yn gallu defnyddio eu sgiliau i gyfrannu at Ysbyty Athrofaol y Faenor mewn ffordd wahanol iawn i’r hyn y mae eu swydd o ddydd i ddydd yn caniatáu”.Peter Carr, Cadeirydd Grŵp Strategaeth y Celfyddydau a Chyfarwyddwr Gweithredol Therapïau a Gwyddor Iechyd
